Dr Ian Bitterlin: My name’s Ian Bitterlin and I’m a Chartered Engineer.

I’ve been in the Data Centre industry for the best part of 25 years.

I often get asked if Data Centre operators will operate in ‘static bypass’ or ‘eco mode’, and I think the answer today is “no.”

But I think it’s a growing trend, driven by the cost of energy and the drive for energy efficiency.

So in certain markets where they are pretty mature, I think ‘eco mode’ will become much more common than it is today.
