Kohler Uninterruptible Power (KUP) attended this year’s Healthcare Estates show in Manchester. As well as showcasing its medical IT / IPS system, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and emergency lighting solutions for healthcare environments, it was also taking the pulse of the industry when it comes to UPS installations.
Kate Jones, Marketing Manager at KUP, said: “We had a great show and some interesting conversations with existing customers and facilities managers and design engineers visiting the show. It seemed the main challenge when it came to UPS installation and support in healthcare was space – no matter whether it was a new build or an existing set up!”
Conversations with the KUP team and those at the show at the start of a new build covered how to specify a healthcare ups system with the ability to futureproof it. Discussions were focused on KUP’s advice and expertise in designing suitable power protection systems and there was much interest in their series of CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) accredited CPD options including its new Healthcare focused Training Academy, developed for estate engineers and system designers who work with critical power within healthcare environments.
Aimed to help users understand the principal design aspects of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and secondary supplies discussed in HTM06-01 guidance, Kohler’s new academy course looks at how the HTM06-01 regulation integrates a UPS into the electrical infrastructure to design a reliable and resilient system in a hospital or medical facility.
Kate adds: “Other conversations were also directed at the other end of the spectrum – how to update legacy equipment when space is at a premium. We had many conversations about the performance and footprint of our products and the savings that can be achieved when sustainability is added into the mix.”
