We’re delighted to announce that our MF Series UPS is in the shortlist for FOUR major awards this Spring!
We’re proud to be finalists at the DCR Excellence Awards for
- Data Centre UPS Product of the Year
- Data Centre Backup Power Solution of the Year
And also at the DCS Awards for
We’ve made the cut due to the MF Series offering best-in-market energy efficiency and CO2 reduction savings for customers, the innovative modular design and the circular sustainable features of being PEP eco passport approved.
Designed for Data Centres who are looking for scalable, resilient and flexible uninterruptible power systems to protect their critical power, the MF Series online double conversion UPS reduces the environmental impact and optimises PUE measures, delivering significant financial savings in energy and cooling costs.
Why we’re in the shortlist
KUP recently worked with Green Mountain Data Centre LON-East project in Romford with TClarke as the main contractor, to provide robust backup power to support a max load of 2,400kW per power stream on the 40MW capacity site.
After careful cost analysis, the MF Series emerged as the optimal choice, delivering both financial, environmental & operational support benefits. The 97.4% efficiency of the MF Series saves Green Mountain over £230k annually, equating to £1.2 million over five years and £2.3 million over ten years. Moreover, the system reduces CO2 emissions by 3.5 tonnes over a decade—aligning seamlessly with Green Mountain’s sustainability goals.
The first phase of the project required 7MW IT UPS to support a max load of 2,400kW per power stream. KUP delivered eight 1500kVA MF Series units to meet these demands.
What makes the product the best choice for the awards?
The MF Series is a modular UPS, ranging from 250 kW to 1500 kW in one frame, and parallelable to support up to 6MW. The modular UPS system combines proven DPA (decentralised parallel architecture) technology with the latest advances in components and software. Innovative, vertical slide-in modules enable resilient, high power density protection by reducing UPS footprint up to 45% over traditional approaches, without compromising access for installation and maintenance.
This means that Data Centres can be sure to get reliable backup power in smaller spaces where others may struggle, and the benefit of not shutting the system down when individual modules need to be serviced or replaced.
In addition, the 97.4 efficiency of the UPS helps save the data centre money and contribute to energy saving targets.
For example, in a 1.5 MW installation, over 10 years the 0.7% extra efficiency of the MF Series versus a competitor at 96.7% can save over £360k in electrical and cooling costs and the Green Mountain savings can also be seen as a huge draw.
This is done via advanced components and a design focus to ensure that efficiency can be effectively used. This means that 97.4% is not solely delivered in a narrow sweet spot but across a wide, practical load band.
Effective use of energy efficiency is enhanced further by Xtra VFI mode functionality. Often when load falls below 25%, UPS efficiency rapidly deteriorates. By automatically adjusting the number of active modules according to load and redundancy requirements, and reverting unneeded modules to standby, Xtra VFI avoids this. Intelligent switching rotates active modules, equalising aging and extending service life.
The MF Series is also future-ready with grid support functionality, being able to interact with the mains grid and external systems to provide input power reduction or increase and backfeed to the grid. Supported functional also include Fast requene Response and Island Mode operation.
The PEP ecopassport environmental product declaration label applied to the MF Series further adds to the desire for the product amongst data centres that face ambitious sustainability targets. The PEP ecopassport programme verifies stringent performance criteria throughout a product’s life cycle: manufacturing, distribution, installation, use and end of life.
